Bombers Happy Tongue DC Dressage Bit

Season:Core

Brand:Bombers

Code:BOMDCDRHT

The Bombers Happy Tongue DC Dressage Bit is designed to remove as many pressures as possible, creating a safe comfortable communication.

The key feature of the cheekpiece is the loose ring which attaches to the bridle, which can also rotate, ensuring the poll and cheek area is relieved from any rein engagement. The reins are attached to the large dee, which swings open independently of the cheekpiece. The mouthpiece is fixed to the cheekpiece, with a solid surface area to encourage flexion.

Made from a blue sweet iron, it oxidises easily which encourages salivation and encourages your horse to accept the bit as it is warm and sweet. It is a popular design recommended by Bombers for all young horses and those that show tongue sensitive signs.

Technical Information
  • Curved mouthpiece.
  • Encourages salivation.
  • Cheek ensures the poll and cheek area is relieved from rein engagement.
  • Please note due to oxidisation the blue will fade with use.

  • My horse tends to stick his tongue out to left side of his mouth but is better in a double bridle with french link snaffle and low-ported weymouth. Would this bit be suitable?
Question asked by Anne on 26/05/2019 05:26:14
Hi Anne, we have contacted our supplier regarding this and they have responded with this: ''If the horse is just sticking it’s tongue out then it sounds like the horse is tongue sensitive. If you have not tried a Happy Tongue bit, then this would be the first bit we would recommend as a starting point to find where the horse does and does not like pressure. This would only be suitable for a snaffle bridle. If you have tried the happy tongue the other options could be the ported barrel - this gives better lateral aids than the fixed happy tongue, or the Ultra Comfy Lock Up - still gives a little tongue relief & stops the pinch action of a normal snaffle. Bitting is a process so you may have to try a couple of bits to find what the horse is happiest in.'' I hope this helps, but if you would like any further help with bitting, please do not hesitate to contact us either by email or phone: info@redpostequestrian.co.uk or 01803 812040.
